Cross River Daily reports that the Young Progressive Party, YPP’s senate aspirant, Comrade Anthony Bissong has purchased his nomination and expression of interest form while promising to deliver on competent representation should his dreams come alive.
Anthony Bissong, who was received by a large crowd of supporters at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport, on his return from Abuja, noted that, although the youths of this generation have everything it takes to offer good political leadership, they rather choose to offer themselves as ladders for “old” politicians with lean or no capacity to climb through to political positions.
Setting a new pace for young Cross Riverians, Anthony stated that if at fouty, 40 he is given the opportunity to represent Central Cross River State, he would not disappoint the youths of the district, instead, he said he will invent a standard that will challenge the young people to aspire to take up political responsibilities.
Stressing the need for the youths to join forces with each other rather than root for the “old” politicians, Anthony said:
“One of the things you have to take home today is that the time has come for the youths to stop wearing t-shirts for elders; stop wearing caps for elders; stop bending your backs for them to climb and when they get there they forget you.
“The advantage you have by supporting me is that I belong to your generation and I can not disappoint you.
“The consequence is that if in my first tenure I fail to deliver, you are going to retire me early”.
Anthony Bissong also averred that his ambition was borne out of the desire to give the youths a voice; howthat by this singular act of his, youthful representation is now born in the state.
“My senatorial ambition is not about me but about you. Some people of my age in Cross River State can not vie for councillorship because of the docile nature of our youths.
“I want my ambition to be a challenge to all of you to know that the set time is now.
“From today youthful representation has been berthed. The person standing before you here is not boasting about age. I am forty by God’s grace and probably the youngest Senatorial aspirant in Cross River State. My greatest excitement today is that all of you here belong to my generation. The advantage you have in supporting me is that I can not disappoint you,” said Anthony Bissong.
