TAXES: Cross River State Generates N1.5 Billion Per Month, Says CRIRS Boss

Chairman of the Cross River State Internal Revenue Service (CRIRS), Mr. Akpanke Ogar yesterday bragged that the administration of Sen. Benedict Ayade now generates over N1.5 billion (on average) per month from taxes and akin levies as against the N700 million to N1 billion it used to generate before now.

Mr. Akpanke made this boast yesterday during a media conference in Calabar where he, eventually, failed to tell how well the Ben Ayade administration has been able to inject this “huge” tax profit on the development of the state.

The CRIRS boss went on to say that the figures the State realised in the year 2017 amounted to N18.4 billion and that for 2016 was N14 billion, however, he said the figures for the year 2018 were yet to be released.

With over N40 billion generated within 2 years and about N20 billion or more expectedly generated for last year, one wonders what the Governor Benedict Ayade has done with such figures as the state’s healthcare, infrastructure and other systems enjoy consistent depreciation.
