Senior Special Assistant (Prosecution) to President Muhammadu Buhari and Chairman, Special Presidential Investigation Panel (SPIP), Double Chief (Barr) Okoi Obono Obla yesterday humbled the People’s Democratic Party in his ward (Ijiman Ward, Ugep, Yakurr LGA) when he harvested 2404 votes for his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) and 1181 votes for Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba.
In a fiercely competitive exercise, the President’s aide proved mastership of the ward that host numerous appointees of the State Governor (PDP), amongst whom are Special Adviser on Lime Stone, Mr. Nelson Ofem; GM of Yakurr Water Board, Mr. Ebri Osong Nkanu; as well as immediate past House of Assembly member, Hon. Mfawa Ofegobi, whose joint effort was unable to outweigh Chief Obla.
Obla who applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for a transparent election believed that this was the first time since 1999 that the votes of his people (Ugep, Yakurr LGA) will count as well as the first time his ward (Ijiman), was voting out PDP.
“Despite the lawlessness, violence , intimidation and vote buying perpetrated by PDP against us in the 23 February 2019, presidential and National Assembly elections in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State, we kept faith and won in my Ward – Ijiman Ward convincingly.
“This is the first time since 1999 my people votes will count in an election. Thanks to the transparency of the indefatigable President Muhammadu Buhari,” Obla said.
On the treatment meted his friend, Barr. Utum Eteng of Biko Biko Ward (Ugep), Chief Obla said: “My heart and prayers are for Chief , Barrister Utum Eteng who was brutally assaulted and beaten and almost stripped naked by hooligans recruited by PDP in Biko-Biko Ward of Ugep when they saw defeat staring them. I wish him a speedy recovery. It is sheer bestiality for such a distinguished gentle man to be so dehumanized because some people want to subvert the will of the people”.
