Central Senatorial aspirant and security consultant, Dodeye Arikpo has eulogized the Federal Government of Nigeria for assenting to the demands of young Nigerians to reducing the age benchmark for vying for elective positions however stressing that the government also need to appoint deserving young people to sacrosanct offices to enable them build confidence in themselves.
Mr. Dodeye Arikpo who is the Chief Executive Officer of Widened Court Security outfit in Abuja the nation’s capital said this in an exclusive chat with CrossRiverDaily yesterday.
Expressing his joy over the development, Dodeye said the days where Nigerian youths have their political desires hindered on grounds of age were now erstwhile.
“I am absolutely delighted that no one can now use a certain age to brand young people as not qualified to aspire for leadership. I think Nigeria is truly catching up with global political trends and that is fantastic to say the least.
“I believe it is a glorious chance for the young people to develop themselves and take measures to achieving their leadership potential. They must be conscious that leadership will not be offered on a platter, and so they must strive to convince people about their readiness to lead in spite of their youthful age.
“Government must further assist in giving roles to deserving young people in society to handle. This will build confidence and a stronger desire in our young people to prove themselves. Greater attention must also be paid to education and youth development and orientation to help build young leaders,” Mr. Arikpo said.
