By Lekan Macualay:

The newly appointed DSS Director, Mr. A. A. Illupeju, today met with Members of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria (OMPA), Cross River State Chapter, where he revealed that insecurity is the major cause of underdevelopment in the State.

The Chapter Chairman of OMPA, Mr. Efiok Nyok stated that the engagement was aimed at congratulating the new Director of the Department of State Security as well as to extend the relationship between OMPAN and the previous Director DSS in the state.

He informed the new DSS Boss that OMPA was made up of professional registered online media journalists, bloggers and practitioners. He lamented the allegations labeled on the Association because of the personal interests of some unscrupulous, quack social media users who parade themselves as members of OMPA.

Replying to the Chairman of OMPA, Mr A. A Illupeju stated that the DSS has always been a media friendly agency, promising that that will not change in his tenure. He also assured the members of OMPAN that his doors will always be open for its members.

Going Further, the DG spoke on the challenges bothering the Agency in the State as he cautioned members of OMPAN to desist from publishing and popularizing false news for financial benefits as it’s punishment will still come back to hunt them in the near future, stressing that promotion and recognition comes from God alone.
