IN CALABAR: Homeland Security Shoots Dead Suspected Criminal

Over the weekend, there was unrest in the Cross River State capital as information reached Cross River Daily that an unknown soldier in the company of Policemen shot dead one Effiom Etim Effiom at the Murtala Muhammed Highway, close to MCC Junction.

Reports say, Effiom, a suspected criminal resisted arrest by the policemen attached to Homeland Security when vans with policemen and soldiers arrived the scene.

“A soldier came down from one of the vans upon being told what the matter was, corked his gun and shot at him four times,” an eye witness said.

Meanwhile, reports further say Effiom has been terrorising the neighborhood, police sources say he was chased down for stealing.

As at press time, Cross River Daily News was yet to get a reaction from neither the Nigeria Army nor the State Security Adviser.
