Ibeshi2019: Yakurr C’taker Chairman, Barr Ikpi Ubana Refutes Ayade’s Replacement

Chairman of the Yakurr Security Council cum Caretaker Committee, Barr. Ikpi Eyong Ubana has refuted the information currently in circulation that the state governor and guber candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Senator Ben Ayade has been replaced by Mr. Emmanuel Ibeshi courtesy of an appellate court sitting in Lagos.

Barr. Ikpi Ubana who took to Facebook to vent his sentiment described the information as “fake news” while opining that it was the handiwork of “mischief makers to misinform the public”.

“This is to debunk the fake news making rounds that the Governorship candidate of PDP and our own amiable Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prof. Obol Ben Ayade has been replaced with Mr. Emmanuel Ibeshi as candidate of the party in the forthcoming elections by a Lagos State Court of Appeal.

“The news is appalling and an attempt by mischief makers to misinform the public,” Ikpi said.

It is in the view of Barr. Ikpi that Ayade’s candidature was under no trial, hence, needless for any appeal court concern.

“Let me state here clearly that there was no case or decision from a lower court that will give rise to an appeal by a Court of Appeal. The law is very clear that the Court of Appeal is not a court of first instance thus it can only review the result of the trial court. The question then is: which court gave judgment that was appealed against and how can an appeal be taken to Lagos State instead of Cross River where both parties reside,” said Ikpi.

The Yakurr LGA chairman went on to state that “PDP is a family and we know how to resolve our differences internally, unlike our brothers on the other side who will fight even until the election day.

“Ayade remains the candidate of the Party and come 9th of March 2019, we will thank him for his stewardship with our votes and further beg him to continue his good works, because one good term deserves another”.
