The management of Cross River Institute of Technology and Management (CR-ITM), Ugep has commenced planting of 500 trees in line with the State Government’s initiative of growing trees to combat climate change and other side effects of deforestation.
Cross River Daily confirmed that while the government celebrated a Green Carnival in Calabar, the state capital to flag-off the activities of trees planting, ITM Ugep also held an event same day for same reason.
Declaring the event open the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Jeffrey Thompson emphasized the need for “Green living for a healthier tomorrow” which in his analysis, is the basis of livelihood.
High point of Ceremony was not just the declaration of a work free day, but leading staff and students in planting over 500 trees within and around the campus.
