A frontline national advocacy group of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) know as PDP Vanguard has strongly criticized the Cross River State Governor and member of PDP, Gov. Ben Ayade for incarcerating Comr. Agba Jalingo, a journalist in the state.
Jalingo has been in prison for over 50 days with the State Judiciary refusing to grant him bail despite several applications by his counsel.
Agba Jalingo’s only crime is that he, most atimes reports the excesses of the government of Cross River State.
With several human rights organizations, press unions and activists already employing all available mediums to call for Jalingo’s freedom, the PDP Vanguard is not left out. The group, with about 53 thousand followers on Twitter has issued a statement via its Twitter handle @PDPVanguard condemning Gov. Ayade’s relentless fight against the press.
In the tweet, the group also criticized members of PDP in the state for remaining quiet on Jalingo’s incarceration by Gov Ayade; for reasons that they were being loyal members of the party.
