Extortation Of Primary School Pupils: We Will Investigate Ministry Of Education – Info Commissioner

Over the exorbitant charges on primary education in Cross River State even though primary education was supposed to be free, Mrs. Rosemary Archibong, the State Commissioner for Information has said that the state government would investigate the Ministry of Education currently headed by Mr. Godwin Etta.

Mrs. Rosemary disclosed this in her office while fielding questions from newsmen, Cross River Watch said.

On the allegations that pupils across the state have been battling with high demands by the State Ministry of Education for school charges since Ayade took over the affairs of the state, the Information Commissioner said: “I wish I had all the details about this allegation, but I do know that education at the Primary school level is free”.

Accordingly, the Info Commissioner urged all parents not to pay any levy not named and contact her office if the alleged extortion persist.
