Members of the Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum have blamed the lingering inter-communal killings between Igbeazu Izzi people in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State and Ukele in Yala LGA of Cross River State on the governor of Cross River State, Benedict Ayade.
The renowned youth group which cut across Izzi and Abakaliki local government areas of Ebonyi said that Governor Ayade’s “I-dont-care” attitude on the dispute was responsible for all the losses both parties have endured.
In Abakaliki, while answering questions from pressmen, the president of the forum, Hon. Ben Nwovu who regretted that the crisis degenerated to the level it is presently, condemned the killing of innocent people in the affected villages even as he stated that the displaced persons were suffering because the attention by the CRS government to cushion the effect of the crisis was not enough, informing that his State governor has been the only one moving about to ensuring peace at both ends.
Nwovu further blamed the National Boundary Commission, NBC, for not responding to boundary issues in the country, noting that if permanent demarcation had been created since the dispute began in 2005, the land disputes between Ebonyi and Cross River could have been a thing of the past.
The youth group also called on the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to come to the aid of the displaced persons in both states.
Tentative findings by Cross River Daily says Gov. Ben Ayade has not shown the necessary attention required of him, especially that it was a matter bordering on human lives – the lives he swore to protect.
