Chief Obono Obla’s Scholarship Effort Sends First Batch Of Beneficiaries Abroad

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Cross River State, Chief Okoi Obono-obla has, through the federal government scholarship initiative completed the process of sending a team of young Cross Riverians beneficiaries abroad.

The scholarship is from Petroluem Technology Development Fund (PTDF), funded by the federal government of Nigeria.

One of the beneficiaries, Ushie Michael Adadu won the scholarship to study a Master in Management Sciences abroad.

Speaking with Cross River Daily today, Chief Obla said he has no relationship with Ushie but was pushed to helping him upon seeing his passion.

“I did not know Michael from Adam but when he walked to my office and passionately made an appeal to me, I immediately granted it and used all my contacts to ensure that he was awarded the scholarship,” Obla said.

Chief Obla also informed Cross River Daily that at the moment, a plan is already nearing completion to have other Cross River beneficiaries join Ushie.

“I am presently working assiduously to send other bright young Cross Riverians abroad; one of whom is Otu Ekpo Ekpenyong. Ekpo wants a scholarship to study PhD in Environmental science abroad. I have never met Ekpo in person but we have been talking and communicating through the phone and social media.

“Meanwhile, I have secured a Ph.D scholarship award for another bright young Cross Riverian from Abi Local Government Area”.
