The governorship aspiration of former Cross River State INEC Residential Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Frankland Briyai has met a dead-end after his party, APC, refused to clear him for the its guber primary election scheduled for today, August 29th.
The embattled guber aspirant, *CrossRiverDaily* understands, was disqualified on grounds of party membership. The screening committee held that Dr. Briyai has not been a card-carrying member of the party for up to one year.
“Therefore, Dr. Briyai Frankland was not cleared and disqualified on the ground of Section 3 paragraph ‘L’ of the guideline for nomination of candidates”.
The committee, in the report signed by all its seven members said the guideline stipulated that aspirants must have been card-carrying members of the party up to one calendar year, must show their original credentials and in the case of multiple declarations of age must harmonise same to avoid any untold situation.
What remains unknown is whether Dr. Briyai will return back to Cross River State and continue his job as State’s REC or whether he will turn to court for the reminder of the events.
