A frontline political support group of the People’s Democratic Party in Cross River State, Cross River Youths For Ayade And Atiku (CRYFAA) has belittled the federal government of Nigeria and security operatives over what they described as condemnable the search on PDP’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The presidential candidate was on Sunday, November 11th subjected to thorough security scrutiny by a joint squad made up of men of the Nigerian Army, Police and DSS while he returned from Dubai.
CRYFAA, in a media confab yesterday at its State Secretariat, Atekong Street, Marian Calabar stated that the outing by the security agencies was a “total disregard of the rule of law and an attempt to ridicule his personality after severally failed efforts to smear his name and character with all forms of lies and allegations”.
Architect Eric Akpo, the CEO of CRYFAA who qualified the outing as inhumane noted that the whole exercise was baseless as there were no allegations or security alerts to have necessitated such a show.
“As youths, we can no longer sit to watch all these happen. We want to say emphatically that we are not happy with this and the APC should desist from using intimidation to displace opposition,” Eric said.
The DG of CRYFAA, Comrade Esuone Uwanse who also seized the confab to register his sentiment on the issue said there was no point threatening members or candidates of the opposition party while reiterating CRYFAA’s position on the matter as he appealed to the Federal Government to respect the ethics of democracy and equip all contenders a levelled playing ground.
