With just a day to the convention, Cross River Daily can authoritatively report that former Cross River State governor, Dr. Clement Ebri has stepped down for former Edo State governor, Mr. Adams Oshiomole.
Ebri confirmed this in a phone chat with Cross River Daily, early Friday morning.
“Following deep consultations with my family, friends and associates, party leaders and stakeholders in the progress of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy from the race for the National Chairmanship of the APC.
“This decision has been taken in what I consider to be the overall best interest of the party and my belief that all stakeholders must row in the same rancour-free direction as we approach general elections in a few months,” Dr. Ebri said.
When Cross River Daily asked what he thinks of his supporters, Ebri said that they should remain enthusiastic and not discouraged; howthat, his decision was sponsored by the overall interest of the party but not for his nor Oshiomole’s while appreciating their efforts all the way.
