One of the leading chairmanship aspirants for the forthcoming Abi Local Government elections and former Abi Security Council Chairman, Barr. Iwasam Adaga has bemoaned the fresh dispute outburst between Ebom and Ebijakara communities of Abi LGA, even as he beckoned for the people to give peace a chance.
Fielding questions from Cross River Daily on the reported hostility currently rocking the said two communities, Barr. Iwasam noted that, at this point of their [Ebom/Ebijakara] existence, peace was the only thing they needed in other to see the progress and development they are yearning for.
As at yesterday morning, fresh hostilities, in the protracted conflict between Ebom and Ebijakara communities in Abi Local Government Area, Cross River Central, resumed thereby leaving several houses in Ebom burnt and lives lost in a dawn attack.
According to a source; “as I speak with you, there is confusion in our community and several people here cannot be accounted for.
“We are mostly lumped together by the Ebom beach as most houses on the upper part of Ebom have been set ablaze by the invaders. I am still looking for my mother, I hope nothing has happened to her. Please help us and inform the Cross River State government that we are under attack”.
Reacting to this, Barr. Iwasam who shared his desire to serve the people of Abi Local Government Area as chairman of council told CrossRiverDaily that “peace is a front-leg” in his proposed agenda for his people, reiterating that, upon the success of his aspiration, he was going to do everything within his ambit to restore everlasting peace in all warring quarters of the district.
